- Scientific Name: Stemodia lanata
- Family: Scrophulariaceae
- Native Range: Southwestern United States (especially Texas) and northern Mexico.
Uses
- Ecological: Stemodia lanata provides an excellent habitat for local wildlife, including pollinators such as bees.
- Landscaping: Due to its attractive flowers and drought-tolerant nature, it is sometimes used in xeriscaping or native plant gardens.
- Traditional Uses: Some native American tribes used plants in the Stemodia genus for medicinal purposes, though S. lanata in particular isn’t well-documented for these uses.
Care and Maintenance
- Watering: Once established, it needs little water, making it a great choice for xeriscaping or low-water gardens.
- Pruning: You can prune dead stems or any leggy growth to maintain its shape and encourage healthy growth.
